Dear WIS Families,
March is a busy month. During this time of year we acknowledge Women’s History Month, Music in Our Schools month, and National Reading month, along with daylight savings time, and the first day of spring. Throughout the month we have many fun and educational activities to address each of these special events.
To start off the month, we have three special events that are occurring this week:
Composting: Beginning Wednesday, WIS students will be able to participate in the district’s composting initiative. Members of the High School Green Team will be coming to each of the lunch waves to talk to our students about the importance of composting and teach them how to sort their trash, recyclables and food scraps at the end of their lunch time. Our students have already been actively recycling their cans and bottles.
Author Visit: On Friday, author, Don Tate, will be visiting our school and holding grade-level assemblies throughout the morning and some small-group meet and greets in the afternoon. Don Tate is an award-winning author, and the illustrator of numerous critically acclaimed books for children, including the books, Jerry Changed the Game and She Loved Baseball . Thanks to the generosity of the PTO, each class received copies of these books prior to Mr.Tate’s visit.
Cinderella ….If the Shoe Fits!: Our school’s musical will be taking place this weekend with performances at 4:00pm on Saturday and 2:00pm on Sunday. Performances will take place in the WIS cafetorium. This year the show features a cast of 70 very talented fourth and fifth grade students. The URL for ticket purchasing is:

Parent-Teacher Conference Days: Conference Days are coming up next week. Here are the adjusted arrival and dismissal schedule times that will be in effect for the parent-teacher conference days:
Wednesday, March 13 – 2 Hour Delayed Opening, school starts at 10:30
Thursday, March 14 – Early Dismissal, school dismisses at 12:35
Friday, March 15 – Early Dismissal, school dismisses at 12:35
March 18: 6:00pm Board of Education Meeting, in-person WMS Library
March 20: 9:00am PTO meeting - please note, this is a change of time
March 20: 6:30-8:00pm Family Fun Night - Line Dancing
March 29: No School (Good Friday)
