Dear WIS Families,
Welcome to the month of April! I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.
Here are some reminders and a list of upcoming events that are occurring soon in our school:
Planning of classes for the 2024-2025 school year: We are beginning the initial planning of classes for the 2024-2025 school year. This process is a collaborative effort that involves the classroom teacher, school psychologist, school counselor, administration, and other essential staff who work closely with your child. An email was sent to all families who have a child in grades 3 and/or 4 in which we shared more information about the process and included an optional parent input form. Please note that if you would like to share information of which we are not aware all forms are due this Friday, April 5.
Solar Eclipse: As we get closer to this rare event on Monday, April 8, our teachers will be spending time this week to talk about the eclipse and get our students ready to experience it safely. To ensure the safety of all our students, the district is providing certified eclipse glasses (ISO 12312-2 Standard) to all students and staff. It’s important to talk to your child as well as about the need to follow the safety precautions and not look directly at the sun while the eclipse is taking place.
Third Grade Choral Concert: Third grade students will be presenting a choral concert for families on the mornings of April 9 and 10 at 9:00am. Students in the Browns, Cannitos, and Pando will perform Tuesday, April 9 and students in the Davignons, Larrabees, Lubys, and Rice will perform on Wednesday, April 10. We hope that all third grade families will attend this wonderful event.
Grade 5 Parents: Families should have received an email from Mr. Doak, principal of Weston Middle School about several events and activities that have been planned to welcome your child to sixth grade and to answer questions you may have about the transition to middle school. A Parent Orientation is scheduled for Thursday, April 11 at 7pm in the middle school library learning commons.

April 10: Third Grade Musical Concert, 9:00am (students in the Davignon, Larrabee, Luby, and Rice classrooms)
April 11: 7pm Grade 5 Parent Orientation at Weston Middle School Library Learning Commons
April 15 - 19: April Recess (No School)
