Dear WIS Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful April Break. As we enter the last two months of school, you will see there are a lot of dates listed at the end of this email. I tried to list all of our grade-wide and school-wide upcoming events below as I know family calendars can get very busy this time of year.

Earth Day Celebration: WIS is excited to host Alice Ely, Weston resident and Master Gardener, for a special presentation on Earth Day (Monday, April 22nd) to speak to our students about the plight of the monarch butterfly. Students will learn about Monarchs, "the amazing butterflies who migrate thousands of miles in the fall, so that future generations of this beautiful butterfly can return to our gardens, year after year!"

April is Poetry Month: To celebrate Poetry Month, WIS is publishing a poetry book! Each class was tasked with writing a collaborative poem for how they show themselves kindness. We have started to receive your students’ poems and we are working our way toward publishing them which means orders are now open! Your student will receive an order form from their teacher, but you can also order online. To order online, go to https://portal.studentreasures.com/preorder/45125945 and enter our class code: 4512945. Please reach out to your student's teacher if you'd also like to order one to donate to their classroom library! Orders close on May 4th!

School Climate Survey: As part of our ongoing commitment to gather annual data related to school climate, a brief survey will be sent to all Weston families the week of April 22. Directions about completing the survey will be sent with the link. Students in grades one and up and staff in each of our buildings will also complete school climate surveys. All student and staff surveys will be administered during the week of April 22.

5th-Grade Class Fundraiser: The 5th-Grade Class is excited to announce their class fundraiser this year -- a WIS School Store! Managed by our Student Council representatives, the store will offer a variety of school supplies, such as pens, pencils, and erasers. But wait, there's more! The store will also offer artisan crafts created by our very own 5th-graders. Our student volunteers have been working hard making friendship bracelets, bookmarks, hair clips, and more! Most items offered in our store will be $1. However, some specialty items may vary from $2-$5. All sales are cash only, please. All proceeds from the WIS School Store will go directly to the 5th-grade class gift, which will be unveiled in June.

Store Hours:

5th-Grade: Wednesday mornings, 8:15-8:45 AM

4th-Grade: Thursday mornings, 8:15-8:45 AM

3rd-Grade: Friday mornings, 8:15-8:45 AM

*The store will also be open during regularly scheduled library time.
