Second Grade Parents' Orientation

Dear Second Grade Parents/Guardians:

The end of the school year is approaching quickly and in a few short months, your child will be entering Weston Intermediate School. We know this is an exciting time for the second graders. The staff at both Hurlbutt and the Intermediate School have been working closely in order to ensure a successful transition for your child.

We are pleased to invite you to a Parent Orientation on Thursday, May 16th.  The presentation will take place in the WIS cafetorium at 6:00 p.m.  Prior to the parent meeting we will be offering tours of the building which will be led by some of our fifth grade students. The tours will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the front lobby. In order to ensure we have enough student tour guides though, we kindly ask that you call Mrs. Goodall in our front office at (203) 221-6330, if you would like to take part in a tour. 

To help provide a smooth transition for your child, we have arranged for the second grade students to visit the Intermediate School with their teachers on Monday, June 10th.  The students will meet with me, as well as the assistant principal, Mrs. Ford, and our school social worker, Ms. Abby Rodrigue. During their visit they will be able to spend some time in a third grade classroom where they will have a chance to ask questions and hear about third grade from the current students. The second graders will also be given a tour of the school by some of our fifth grade students.
