Dear WIS Families,
I am so happy to share that we had a wonderful second week of school. The students have quickly settled into their routines, are developing new friendships, and demonstrating their PRIDE behavior throughout the day. Over the next two weeks the teachers will be administering the NWEA MAP assessments which provides the teachers and staff with valuable information regarding your child’s achievement level and academic progress in the areas of reading and math. If you have any questions about when these assessments are taking place please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Back-to-School Nights
This year we will be holding three Back-to-School nights, one for each grade level. These highly informative evenings are for parents/guardians only and begin at 6:30pm in your child’s classroom. We hope you all will be able to attend.
Tuesday, September 10, - Grade 3
Wednesday, September 11 - Grade 4
Tuesday, September 17 - Grade 5
New this year, we are offering a time for families to meet with the special area teachers (music, art, PE/Health, and World Language). These teachers will be available from 6:00-6:30 before the Grade 3 Back-to-School night on Tuesday evening, September 10.
Summer Reading and Math Logs
Just a reminder for the students to turn in their summer reading and math logs by Monday September 16. We will be having grade-level assemblies later this month to recognize the students and acknowledge all the reading and math they did this summer. If students need a new reading log to record their reading activities, blank copies are available in the LRC.
Chorus, Orchestra, and Band
Last call for musicians! This is the final week to enroll in one of our outstanding music ensembles. Our music program at WIS offers your child the opportunity to participate in band (grade 5), chorus (grades 4 and 5) or orchestra (grades 4 and 5). It is a unique place to be creative, perform and learn how to read music. Your child will learn, laugh and grow along the way! Our directors are happy to answer any questions about Orchestra (Ms. Brooks), Chorus (Mrs. Moretti) or Band (Mrs. Dirschel). Registration forms are available in the music department.
School Climate Survey
Each year we administer a climate survey to students, families, and staff to provide us with essential feedback on the climate of our school and to ensure our students feel physically, socially, and emotionally safe in our school. This year we are transitioning to the Panorama Education platform and will be administering surveys in the fall and spring. These surveys will help us gather comprehensive data on the experiences and perceptions of our students, staff, and families. A letter will be sent to families on September 16 from Tracy Edwards, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, which will include the link to the Family Survey. If you have any questions about the survey, please let me know.
We greatly appreciate your ongoing support and partnership in making this school year a positive experience for everyone. Your involvement plays a crucial role in your child’s success, and we are excited to continue working together to ensure a wonderful year ahead.
