Weekly Family Update!

Posted Date: 10/21/2024

October 20, 2024

Last week we held our first all-school assembly. We spent time focusing on the “I” in PRIDE (integrity) and talked about what that looks like especially on the bus. We also were excited to let the students know that they have earned 25 paws and as a result they have all earned extra recess on a day coming up soon.

This week our fourth graders will be going on a field trip to New Pond Farm. During the trip they will get to see an authentically recreated encampment with a barked wigwam and a thatched longhouse which supports their upcoming social studies unit on Native Americans. Field trips are an important part of our curriculum as it helps to deepen students’ understanding of curricular concepts.

Our Fall parent conferences are coming soon. Parent-teacher conferences are an important opportunity for parents and teachers to collaborate and discuss a child’s progress in school. These meetings provide valuable insights into a student’s academic performance, behavior, and social development, helping parents understand their child’s strengths and areas of growth. Our teachers set aside individual conference times for parents/guardians.  Be on the lookout for sign up information from your child’s classroom teacher.

Please take a moment to look at our other upcoming events, including Halloween which is coming up soon:

Halloween:

With Halloween less than two weeks away, we have developed some guidelines to help ensure a safe and enjoyable day for everyone:

  • If students would like to wear a costume to school on Halloween, they should arrive at school wearing their costume. We ask that students do not get dressed at school or apply face paint or hair products at school.

  • Students should wear costumes that allow them to be able to fully participate in all school activities. Costumes that make it difficult for students to sit and/or move around comfortably should be avoided.

  • For safety sake, no masks, weapons (or toys simulating weapons), or gory props are allowed.

  • Student costumes should not be overly graphic or depict violence, blood or gore.

Halloween Haunt Concert:

Weston High School Music department will present a “Halloween Haunt Concert” on Tuesday evening, October 29 from 7:00-7:45pm in the high school gymnasium.
