Dear WIS Families,
I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. I know this week is going to go quickly, the excitement for the holidays and winter break is in the air! We have a few fun activities planned for this week – classes will be taking time to have holiday parties and we will gather as a school on Friday for a holiday sing-along. Students in fifth grade will use their newly honed skills in volleyball to challenge the teachers and staff to a friendly competition on Thursday. Please note that Friday, December 20 is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 12:35pm.
As my next Family Update will not go out until December 29, I want to wish everyone a very happy, healthy, and fun holiday season and Winter Break!
Here are some of the other upcoming events this week and in the weeks ahead:
Winter Accessories Drive
The 5th grade Student Council is sponsoring this month's fundraiser: Winter accessories collection for Weston Social Services. Please bring in NEW hats, mittens/gloves, and scarves of any size: Children and Adult S, M, L, XL. Donations can be dropped off in the bins located in the main hallway. The December donation drive will be taking place until Wednesday, December 18.
PTO Winter Coat Drive
The PTO is sponsoring a Winter Coat Drive. Donate your gently used coats to help someone in our community stay warm. Students can drop off coats in the collection box located at the front doors of WIS. The Drive starts Monday and will continue through January 15th.
WIS Yearbook Cover
The Yearbook committee is running a cover contest! Students interested in designing this year's cover should submit an 8.5 x 11 vertical cover to the front office. The cover should be creative, an original drawing (not traced), done without adult help, and in color. Student's name and grade should be on the BACK in light pencil. Covers due by January 10th.
