Dear WIS Families,

It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into our last week of school before Spring Break! Time really flies. We hope your family enjoys a fun-filled and restful break.

The next Weekly Update will be sent home on Sunday, April 20.

Planning for the 2025-2026 School Year

For families with children in grades 3 and 4, we are beginning the initial planning of classes for the 2025-2026 school year. The process is a collaborative effort that involves the classroom teacher, school psychologist, school social worker and other essential staff who work closely with your child.  We share the goal of creating well-balanced classes that meet the needs of all children. To that end, the following criteria will be used to create each class:

    * a range of academic abilities, needs and modifications.

* a balance of boys and girls.

* a combination of children who we feel will work well together, and have a mix of learning styles, interests and personality traits.

* an attempt to place children with at least one familiar classmate from the current year.

If, as part of this planning process, you would like to share information of which we are not aware, please use the Optional Parent Input Form accessible through the following link:  Optional Parent Input Form

Important Evening Presentation

On Wednesday, April 9, Rabbi Michael Friedman of Temple Israel will give a presentation in the Weston Middle School Library at 6:30 pm on Hate Symbols. This presentation is sponsored by the four Weston PTOs and the Weston Public Schools.  This presentation is for parents of all backgrounds and will echo Rabbi Friedman’s presentations on this topic to WHS and WMS students that took place earlier this school year

Parent Volunteer Opportunity: Let's Inspire Our Future Leaders!

Parents, share your career journey! We're seeking volunteer presenters for the inaugural WIS Future Leaders Fair on Monday, April 28th. Whether your profession involves science, math, technology, the arts, reading, music, or any other field, your experience can help students connect their learning at WIS to exciting future possibilities. Interested in helping students envision their futures? Please sign up here to learn more about presenting.

You're invited!

Please join us for the second session of our book club discussion on The Anxious Generation, by Jonathan Haidt. The second meeting will be Wednesday, April 23rd from 8:15 AM - 9 AM in the WIS Library, followed by the General PTO meeting in the WIS Cafetorium at 9 AM. This session will focus on Part II of the book, in which Haidt explores the decline of play-based childhoods.

The WIS Feel Good Club - Session Tomorrow!

The next session on the WIS Feel Good Club is tomorrow, Monday, April 7th at 8 AM in the WIS Library! All students are welcome. This club was created by a team of five 5th-graders, and their mission is to offer a calm, fun space for all WIS students to kick off their week with positivity and friendship. Please do not drop off your child prior to 8 AM.

ART Volunteers Needed

Parent volunteers are needed in the WIS art room for Art Jam!, the Weston K-12 All District Art Show!  Please email Ms. Carroll at CadenceCarroll@westonps.org if she can add you to her volunteer list.  Very flexible times available to help in May and June.  Thank you so much. She will add you now, and then be in touch later this spring.
